Unfortunately, we do not supply beach towels or beach chairs for the river/lake, so be sure to bring your own! Walk down our driveway to the street, turn left, and walk one mile to the beautiful Whiskey Flat Trail head. Turn right on the street and walk one mile into downtown Kernville. This home is not 10 minutes from the entrance of the Sequoia National Forest. We are 45 minutes from the Trail of 100 Giants. Seasonal Power Safety Shutoffs During the summer months, our mountain community may experience Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) issued by Southern California Edison (SCE). These temporary outages may occur during periods of high winds, low humidity, and elevated wildfire danger to help reduce the risk of wildfires. While power shutoffs are not common, they are possible during your stay and are beyond our control. If a PSPS event is expected, we will do our best to notify you as soon as we receive updates. Cell phone service may also become limited or intermittent if nearby cellular towers lose power or become congested. Cable and internet providers may experience service interruptions as well. We recommend bringing portable battery packs to keep phones and other essential devices charged, especially during the summer wildfire season. These precautionary shutoffs are implemented by Southern California Edison to help protect lives, property, and the surrounding Kern River Valley from catastrophic wildfires. We appreciate your understanding, as these events are outside of our control but play an important role in keeping our community safe.
